Privacy Policy

What we collect
- Your email address and password (hashed) when you register.
- Children's first names and age bands you add to your family profile.
- Story preferences: author style, tone, interests, and content values you choose.
- Generated story text and audio files created for your family.
- Playback history (which stories were played, when).
Where it's stored
- All data is stored in a SQLite database on our server.
- Audio files are stored on the same server in a protected directory.
- We do not use third-party analytics, tracking pixels, or advertising cookies.
How AI is used
- We send your child's first name, age band, chosen theme, tone, and interests to Anthropic's Claude API to generate story text.
- We never send your email, password, surname, or any identifying family information to the AI.
- Generated stories are stored in our database so you can replay them. Anthropic does not retain prompt data beyond their standard API data policy.
Yoto data flow
- If you connect your Yoto account, we store an OAuth access token and refresh token to push stories to your Yoto library.
- Story audio and metadata are sent to Yoto's API when you choose to push a story.
- We only access your Yoto account to list cards and push content you explicitly request.
- You can disconnect Yoto at any time from Settings, which deletes our stored tokens.
What we don't do
- We never sell or share your data with third parties for advertising.
- We never use your children's data to train AI models.
- We never contact your children directly.
- We don't use cookies for tracking — only a session cookie for login.
Data deletion
- You can delete your entire account and all associated data from Settings > Delete Account.
- This permanently removes your family profile, all children's profiles, all stories, audio files, and playback history.
- Yoto cards already pushed to your Yoto library remain on Yoto's servers — you can delete those separately from the Yoto app.
